Jim Shore Figurines: Jim Shore Jim Shore Figurines - Jim Shore Jim Shore, known round the world for his stone resin figurine works of art resembling hand-carved wood, grew up in South Carolina and was strongly influenced by his parents and grandmother. His grandmother’s quilts enabled young Jim to appreciate the patience and skill it took to bring these elaborate designs to life. Incidentally, Jim’s artistic talents span several areas: rosemalling (decorative flower painting that originated in Norway in 1750); stained glass, goldsmithing; portrait painting; and wood carving. Jim Shore has consistently received several awards from the National Association of Limited Edition Dealers (NALED) to include Rising Star 2002, and Artist of the Year from 2003 through 2005. (Jim joined forces with Enesco in 2000. This partnership has enabled Jim to concentrate on the artistic side of the business while Enesco handles the business and marketing aspects). Watching Jim Shore on the home shopping network, QVC, always displays Jim's kind and gentle demeanor as well as his true love for his fellow man. His figurines continue to delight collectors of all ages and Jim never tires of creating his wonderful pieces of art. As Jim says, "My work is not a single statement, but a lot of elements mixed together. I use colors that I love – colonial, antiques, jewel tones and some unusual colors that I loved at the moment. Put together it's a pleasure to look at. It doesn't really matter what item it's on. It's just fun to look at (American Folk-Art)". (http://www.jimshore.com/content/AboutJim.aspx)
