Marie Osmond Dolls October 2009 Collection has arrived. For those of you who watched Marie Osmond on QVC on October 26th, many incredible new dolls were debuted. We here at Beacons Glow Collectibles have received in at least one of each of these dolls that was presented during the show.

Marie mentioned during the QVC show that the prices for these dolls is even more reasonable than usual. This is due to the fact that Charisma Brands is acquiring additional doll manufacturers and therefore, are getting better pricing on their doll production. Just recently, Charisma Brands (Marie Osmond is part owner by the way) has acquired Adora Dolls. We expect that these dolls will be offered to retailers in the beginning of 2010.

Fall 2009 Charlie Bears Collection

We received in 15 new Charlie Bears from their Fall 2009 Collection, and as is usually the case, they are very, very nice teddy bears. Additionally, we have received in additional bears from Charlie Bear's Spring 2009 Collection that were very popular to include: Evie, Diesel, Jackson, and Crispin.

More deliveries of these adorable bears are to be shipped to us throughout November and December according to Lucy from the Charlie Bears Ltd. UK Bearhouse. They expect to be receiving in large shipments of new bears every 10 days and will get them shipped out to retailers as quickly as they can.

Their goal is to have all Charlie Bears shipped out to retailers by the second week of December so that will still allow for delivery in time for the Christmas holiday.

Better Late than Never Halloween Items

Fortunately, we have received in both Halloween Boyds Bears and a Halloween Marie Osmond Doll before Halloween. But unfortunately, there is probably not enough time to get it to you by Halloween this Saturday.

For those of you who have been waiting for the following we thought we should get this out to you.

Both Boyds Bears CC Sugarbeary and Shadow McBoo have arrived and are ready to order.

Additionally, the highly anticipated Marie Osmond QVC Exclusive Doll that became available to retailers in very small quantities is now ready to order also. This full porcelain cutie is named 'Adora Spell Belle' and is dressed in a colorful Halloween witche's outfit.

Boyds Bears New Boydsville Village Collection

Boyds Bears has recently introduced a new miniature resin line named Boydsville Village. This new collection features a miniature village where Boyds Bears live, work and play. . .

According to Boyds: "Where every morning, you can hear the church bells echo through the valley and the streets come alive with laughter from children making their way to school. Where just a short ways out of town, farmers tend to their fields and the aroma of freshly baked apple pie fills the fresh country air."

Over time we will meet more members of the Boydsville Community - the merchants along Main Street in town, Boydsville's wealthiest folks living high in the hills in mansions that have stood for generations, and folks with simpler needs, finding comfort and shelter in their cozy lil homes nestled in the Boydsville countryside.

Boyds Bears 2009 Limited Edition Bearstone

Late Friday we received in the 2009 Limited Edition Bearstone by Boyds Bears named 'The Haymaker Family. . . Simple Pleasures, Lasting Memories'. This incredible piece measures more than 13 inches long and comes from a limited edition of 5000 pieces.

The Haymakers share an afternoon of family fun in one of Boyds Bears most elaborate designs to date. This family of six makes their way through hill and dale in an old fashioned wooden resin hay wagon led by their faithful friend. Seven intricately sculpted figurines include Ma and Pa Haymaker with their brood of four and trusty steed.

No details has been overlooked with this Bearstone from the weathered wood slats and nails on the hay wagon to each strand of straw hat.

The stamp on the bottom reads 'We do not remember days, we remember moments'.

We expect this limited edition Bearstone to sell out quite quickly. As we most of our Boyds resin pieces, all of The Haymaker Family Bearstones are 1E editions.

Charisma Dolls Now to Carry Adora Dolls

Charisma Brands, known for their distribution of Marie Osmond Dolls, has recently acquired the Adora Dolls Company. At this point in time. Charisma is already shipping Adora products to customers and will be introducing the 2010 Adora lines at next year's IDEX and Toy Fair venues.

Beacon's Glow Collectibles plans to add Adora dolls to their collectible doll offerings towards the beginning of 2010.

Adora dolls are known for their irresistible baby dolls. They also offer both outfits and accessories for these adorable vinyl baby dolls.

Additional Snowbabies Have Arrived

We are continuining to receive in additional Snowbabies by Department 56. The most recent shipment from yesterday contains many cute Christmas ornaments as well as many from this year's special "Polar Bear Express" Snowbabies Exploration Collection.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of American explorers that traversed the North Pole during 1909, the collection was inspired by the scenes and characters of the far North.

Charlie Bears Chocolate Fondue

Due to the incredible popularity of Cheesecake introduced in Charlie Bears 2009 Spring Collection, they will be introducing the much anticipated follow up and he is named Chocolate Fondue.

Chocolate Fondue is made of long, wavy chocolate brown German Schulte mohair. He has faux suede paw pads and felt-backed eyes. As with all Charlie Bears, he is hand-made and additionally is partially bean-filled. Chocolate Fondue is 13 inches tall and comes from a limited edition of only 500 pieces.

Charlie Bears are certainly "Bears with Personalities". Chocolate Fondue is expected to be shipping in late October. Charlie Bears MiniMo Collections

Charlie Bears, the wildly popular plush and mohair teddy bears from the UK, have announced their introduction of 4 MiniMo Collections for their Fall 2009 lineup. MiniMos are mohair teddy bears that range in size from 7 inches to 8 inches. Their philosophy is "There's always room for one more bear". These adorable smaller sized mohair bears will look great grouped together or as an accent for a larger Charlie Bear.

We will provide you with an overview of each upcoming MiniMo Collection but would like to start with the following 8-inch MiniMo Collection.

We have heard from Charisma Brands, distributor of Marie Osmond Dolls, that Marie Osmond will be debuting her October 2009 Collection of dolls on QVC on October 26th. As always is the case, we plan on being sure to watch.

There are 4 dolls from this October Collection that we are sure will be popular with Marie Osmond Doll collectors.

They are:

1. Baby Tiny who comes dressed in layers of pastel pink tulle and crystal-embellished floral accents. She has been sculpted by Karen Scott for Marie Osmond Dolls.

2. Scarlet is dressed in a scarlet red dress with white faux pearls and coordinated hair bow. She truly looks like she could easily become a Christmas holiday doll to display during the holidays. Scarlet was sculpted by Kathy Smith.

3. Mimi, sculpted by the very popular JoAnn Pohlman, comes dressed in a black and white toile dress with bright red ruffled detailing. Incidentally, Mimi’s dress was inspired by Marie’s love of Paris and she is as petite and beautiful as her name.

Katelyn Rose, sculpted by Beverly Stoehr for Marie Osmond Dolls, has arrived at Beacons Glow Collectibles. This incredibly cute 13-inch seated porcelain doll is a Retailer Exclusive and comes from a very limited edition size of only 75 pieces.

Katelyn Rose comes beautifully costumed in a sheer organza dress with tiered layers and over-stitched hemline. Burgundy ribbon rosette flowers adorn the layers, bodice and coordinating headband.

She comes from Marie Osmond Dolls 'Toddler' Collection and is hallmarked on the back of her neck with Marie's classic signature and is hand-numbered.

We have been allocated only one of these dolls and her edition number is 11.

Margarete Steiff Felt Doll by Steiff Bears EAN 421082 arrived today and this set is quite amazing. By the way, this Steiff creation honors the 100th anniversary of Margarete's death and even to this day she still remains known to many as the 'Mother of all Teddy bears and toy animals'.

Designed from original photos of Margarete Steiff from the Steiff archives, this incredible 11-inch wool felt doll with a center seam wears a subdued dress made of luxurious black wool with a black satin blouse adorned with a brooch with burgundy stone. Fall 2009 Charlie Bears Sneak Peek

We here at Beacons Glow Collectibles were very pleased to receive a CD from Charlie Bears containing images of the brand new Fall 2009 Plush and Isabelle Collection.

We have been notified by Charlie Bears that the new Autumn 2009 Plush and Mohair collections will be arriving late September until mid-December. These bears will be arriving from the Charlie Bears UK Bearhouse and we expect that the plush bears will arrive first with the mohair Isabelle bears trickling in after that time.

We would like to gradually give you a sneak peek of some of these bears in this new collection.

A Great Idea for your Bear or Doll Collection

We received in an excellent suggestion from a customer the other day. It seems that this individual was responsible for selling a doll collection after their partner had passed away. It was very frustrating because all of the doll boxes had been saved with each respective certificate of authenticity inside, but the doll could not be matched up with the box. This was because there was no name on the doll itself.

We always recommend that both doll and bear collectors save the original boxes when possible but we would like to add this individual's very helpful suggestion. Either photograph or print out an image of the doll or bear before putting their box into storage. This will mitigate any issues in the future with finding the right doll or bear for the right box. What an excellent idea!

A History of Snowbabies

Do you know where Snowbabies originated? One theory dates back to 1893 when polar explorer Admiral Robert Peary was living in Greenland at the time. During this period of time, his newborn daughter Marie was called Ah-poo-Mic-kaninny, meaning "snowbaby" by the Eskimos, due to her snow-white skin. The second theory traces Snow Babies to sometime in the late 19th century Germany when "sugar dolls" were a favorite confectionery decoration.

Several snow baby collectors are familiar with antique German snowbabies or Japanese snowbabies. Snowbabies figurines date back to the very early 1900’s. Right around the beginning of 1905, German artisans carefully painted each snowbabie by hand. Japan also began to produce snowbabies just before World War II, but they were of a lesser quality than those made in Germany.

Today the very popular Snowbabies by Department 56 are in high demand by collectors. Kristi Jensen Pierro, designer of Snowbabies, has been drawing Snowbabies for the past 22 years. She gets her inspiration for these whimsical characters from the activities of small children.

Manufactured by Department 56, these charming porcelain bisque collectibles have been meticulously crafted with hand-painted faces and hand-applied frosty bisque crystals.

Snowbabies Have Arrived!

Beacons Glow Collectibles is now an authorized retailer of Snowbabies by Department 56. These very popular bisque porcelain figurines convey an endearing personality to the sweet simplicity of childhood, and are just adorable. These charming Snowbabies have been meticulously crafted with hand-painted faces and hand-applied frosty bisque crystals.

Designer of Snowbabies by Department 56, Kristi Jensen Pierro, has been drawing Snowbabies for the past 22 years. The creation of a Snowbabie includes making a draft sketch which is transformed into an actual illustration. Kristi then makes a scale drawing to include each aspect of a Snowbabie - side, top, and bottom. And, of course, she then adds little touches along the way that ultimately makes each Snowbabie collectible irresistible – whether it be a waterglobe, a figurine, an ornament or a musical piece. Currently Kristi is Executive Director of Product Design and Department 56 artist. Kristi gets her inspiration for these incredibly whimsical figurines from her life experiences, photos and stories. This year's special Bearington Bears limited edition holiday musical bear, Holly N. Ivy, has just arrived. This adorable bear is the seventh in this series.

Holly N. Ivy wears a floor-length Christmas red velvet dress with faux fur inset and holly embroidery down the front. Boyds Bears Esmerelda Castaspell with Spidey is Back in Stock

The very popular Boyds Bears Halloween bear, Esmerelda Castaspell with Spidey, is now back in stock. We felt quite lucky to be able to get some of these additional bears as Boyds by Enesco had told us that our order had been put on a waiting list.

Esmerelda Castaspell is an incredible 18-inch brown witch bear that has quite the elaborate Halloween outfit. She wears a skirt of double metallic purple netted fabric with sheer purple overlay embellished with black velour spider web embroidery. Her dress is made of a Halloween orange and black plaid with black satin inset on the bodice with purple ribbon. Of course, Esmerelda wears a black satin witch's hat with fabric rosettes, netting, and faux feathers.

She holds Spidey, the spider in her bear paw and his body is made of black glitter fabric with black and orange felt legs.

This adorable bear is perfect for our upcoming Halloween (which is on a Saturday this year by the way), and a must for Boyds Bears collectors.

We have just received word that Steiff Bears has debuted their usual yearly Christmas Swarovski bear and this year it is named Kringle, the Christmas Stocking Bear. Madame Alexander Doll Seven Year Itch Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe has the mystique and staying power to fans even to this day. Madame Alexander Dolls pays tribute to this famous actress in their recent introduction of Seven Year Itch Marilyn Monroe doll (50180).

She wears the signature white halter sleeveless dress from the 1955 movie 'The Seven Year Itch'. This dress has a wired skirt so it can be posed into the same signature pose from the movie.

In this movie it has been said that Marilyn Monroe's image as a sex goddess too often overshadowed her talent as a fine comic actress. She was completely irresistible, and very good in this movie.

Schulte Mohair, known for producing some of the best mohair in the world, has been at the heart and soul of the teddy bear industry since 1903. This particular year marked the beginning of the long-lasting relationship between Schulte and Steiff Bears. (Incidentally, Steiff recently acquired Schulte).

Reinhardt Schulte's factory opened back in 1901 and even to this day, this company still resides in the same building in Duiberg, Germany. Contained within this building is the weaving mill, dye shop, quality control, and finishing department.

Mohair comes from the angora goat through a shearing process (like sheep) that never harms the angora goats.

Mohair fleece has always been the ultimate fabric for making teddy bears. There are several reasons for this: 1) mohair has an incredible luster to it, and dyed mohair resists fading caused by time and the elements and is very hard wearing; 2) mohair is almost non-flammable; 3) mohair is considered the most durable animal fiber; 4) the natural fibers from mohair have the ability to absorb and release atmospheric moisture; 5) mohair is characteristically resistant to soiling; and 6) mohair possesses great tensile strength. Diameter to diameter it is stronger than steel!

Artists and manufacturers world-wide cite the magnificent quality, variety and durability of the Schulte mohair when designing their wonderful creations.

Steiff Bears, as well as the mohair Charlie Bears, are crafted from Schulte mohair.
